Idara-Al-Khair welfare society began in a small jhuggi (hut) in Mustafa colony in New Karachi. Their main aim was to emphasize the need and importance of education to the underprivileged and uniformed sections of the society. They began teaching with only two students in this small hut. Idara Al-Khair welfare society was formed and registered in 1987. After working for more than 25 years with dedication and the help of several philanthropists, individuals and organizations they have successfully established schools, basic health centers and vocational training centers. Currently they have 6 schools and one college with 3500 students.

What they do:

  • Help those who are deprived of basic facilities of life by giving away free ration, clothes. They also provide counselling for those with mental health issues.
  • They provide free education to those children who are unable to afford the expenses they do this because the strongly believe that empowering children will empower this nation.
  • Idara-Al-Khair makes it imperative that children along with receiving free education also learn some technical skills so it is easy for these children to keep up with the technological world.

Besides Education Idara-Al-Khair is actively engaged in several programs, these programs include food support, medical support, poor farmer support, drinking water support, orphan care program and higher education sponsorship programs. It is important to mention that all their programs are being managed by them through support of donors and philanthropist. Currently they are working towards creating a concrete medical department in their organization which will be able to meet all the needs of their patients.

They provide financial support for students who are pursuing higher education in universities and professional colleges. Their orphan program is an alternative to orphan homes opened throughout the city. Team Idara Al Khair has designed the basis of it’s orphan care program. This program requires the students to reside with a female guardian (paternal or foster mother). The children are schooled from 0730 to 1700 after which they are sent to their guardian to enjoy the rest of the day under proper supervision. The team has also planned to arrange jobs for the female guardians which may include stitching and sewing. The jobs will be provided in the premises of the school. They will be taught how to manage their house in accordance to what they earn.

With the increasing population of Karachi Idara-Al-Khair continues to expand such projects to cater to the needs of the people.
