Brief Overview
Al Zohra Welfare Association is a non-profit organization established in 1991 to support underprivileged individuals and families in Karachi through welfare assistance, education, and vocational training. The organization primarily provides monthly Zakat and non-Zakat welfare assistance, including ration support and financial assistance for essential needs such as medical treatment, marriage, transportation, and other emergencies. Currently, these programs benefit more than 200 vulnerable families, including widows and single mothers.
In addition to welfare assistance, Al Zohra Welfare Association operates an English-medium secondary school that provides affordable, quality education from Nursery to Matric. The organization also runs a STEVTA-registered vocational training center offering practical skills in sewing, beautician services, computer applications, English language, cooking, and fitness. These programs are designed to improve employability and help women become financially independent.
The organization aims to reduce poverty by addressing immediate welfare needs while creating opportunities for long-term self-reliance through education and skills development. Its work focuses on supporting vulnerable communities with transparent, sustainable, and community-based programs that improve quality of life and promote social inclusion.
Core Programs and Services

The centre is equipped with training classrooms, sewing machines, computers, and other resources required for hands-on learning.
Facilities: Our campus includes welfare service offices, an English-medium school, vocational training classrooms, computer laboratory, science laboratories, library, sports facilities, and administrative offices, enabling us to deliver integrated education and community welfare services from one location.
What Makes Our Approach Distinct
Al Zohra Welfare Association combines immediate humanitarian assistance with long-term development through an integrated model of welfare, education, and vocational training. While our Zakat and non-Zakat programs address the essential needs of vulnerable families, our school, informal education, and STEVTA-registered vocational training centre equip children, women, and youth with the knowledge and skills needed for self-reliance. Operating all programs from a single community-based campus enables us to provide continuous support, strengthen community ownership, and create sustainable pathways out of poverty.
Impact Stories
Al Zohra Welfare Association has supported many individuals in becoming self-reliant. Mrs. Raisa received monthly ration assistance for over 15 years. After her son secured employment in the police service, she voluntarily returned her welfare card, explaining that her family was now financially stable and requesting that the assistance be given to another family in need.
Our vocational training programs have also transformed lives. Hina completed our sewing course and now earns over PKR 45,000 per month, supporting her household. Sidra received sewing and language training and now operates a garment business, exporting clothing to the UK and earning over PKR 80,000 monthly. Another student, Malaikah, raised by a single mother, completed her Matric education and computer course at Al Zohra. She secured an office job and now earns PKR 25,000+ per month, contributing to her family’s income.
These stories reflect our commitment to helping families achieve long-term financial independence.
