The mission of Mountaineering for Change is to raise awareness and resources for remote mountain communities grappling with the impact of climate change.
In July 2023, climbers Karim Hayat, Wasiq Ismail, and Mazdak Khan will embark on a challenging mountaineering expedition to summit an unchartered 6,000+ meters peak in Khunjerab, Pakistan.
Through this expedition, the team will raise funds to provide clean energy sources, such as solar energy systems, to early childhood schools and youth employment centers in the Hunza region. By introducing sustainable energy solutions, they aim to foster education and employment opportunities for the community's future generations.
It is important to note that all costs associated with the expedition itself will be covered by the team, ensuring that every penny raised will directly benefit the community. All funds will be collected by iCare Fund America, Inc. a registered 501(c)(3) in the US, and will be disbursed and monitored through iCare Foundation Pakistan, a bona fide Pakistani nonprofit.
