True heroes work in the shadows, shaping a future lit with hope and opportunity. Rashidabad is a live monument of this heroism, where vision meets action to create lasting change.
In 1971, a tragic combat mission left Air Commodore (R) Shabbir A. Khan and his squadron mourning the loss of half their comrades. Faced with the brevity of life, they transformed their grief into purpose. They envisioned a world where every underserved child could learn, every ailing soul could heal, and where the most vulnerable could find refuge.
Their mission was audacious: build not just schools and hospitals, but systems of progress where none existed. Recognizing the vast needs of communities in interior Sindh, they embarked on a journey to provide quality education, healthcare, and services for orphans and people with special needs—knowing that sustainable impact demanded more than bricks and mortar. It required governance, resources, and enduring stewardship.
A Bold Model for Sustainable Transformation
The architects of Rashidabad pioneered a game-changing model. The Rashid Memorial Welfare Organization (RMWO) constructs world-class infrastructure—schools, hospitals, and vocational centers—and then transfers them, free of cost, to expert non-profits renowned for operational excellence.
By specializing in construction while trusted partners manage service delivery, RMWO maximizes impact, allowing it to scale and innovate without being tied down by daily operations. This synergy harnesses the unique strengths of both builder and operator, creating a virtuous cycle of quality service and perpetual growth.
The result? A dynamic ecosystem that revolutionizes lives!

From Dreams Forged in Sacrifice to Triumph
The path to Rashidabad was fraught with challenges. Early funding was elusive. Air Commodore (R) Shabbir A. Khan and 16 steadfast colleagues risked their financial futures and pooled pensions to ignite their dream. But that was merely the beginning. Undaunted, they shared their vision tirelessly, inspiring support from Pakistan and its diaspora. Slowly, the seeds of determination blossomed into a reality.
Then, as Rashidabad was all set to commence its first chapter, tragedy struck again. On December 13, 1997, Flight Lieutenant Rashid Khan, son of Shabbir A. Khan, embraced Shahadat in an operational mission, sacrificing his life to save hundreds of civilians in Karachi. The town was named Rashidabad in his honor, immortalizing his sacrifice and anchoring the organization’s mission in profound personal loss.

Alamabad and Jamesabad: Expanding the Legacy
Emboldened by Rashidabad’s success, RMWO is looking into new frontiers. In Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the organization has built Alamabad, named after the legendary Air Commodore MM Alam, whose unmatched valor and patriotism inspired an entire generation. Alamabad now stands as a beacon of education, health, and empowerment, mirroring Rashidabad’s holistic model.
In Sindh, 80 kilometers from Rashidabad, Jamesabad marks the next chapter. Although it is still under development and awaiting its final name, it symbolizes RMWO’s relentless pursuit of transformative impact. Like its predecessors, it will offer comprehensive services to uplift and empower marginalized communities.
By supporting Rashidabad, Alamabad, and Jamesabad, the i-Care Foundation champions a legacy of impact and innovation, proving that visionary partnerships can reshape societies. Together, we are forging a compassionate, inclusive world.
